Therapy Services

Therapy can be constructive and enjoyable journey to address and resolve a large number of specific concerns, issues, and symptoms. Therapy can be an effective method of self-growth by assisting you overcome barriers and increasing positive feelings. We offer a variety of therapeutic services to help you and your family resolve problematic behaviors, beliefs, and feelings. Our clinicians provide a wide range of services including individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults, as well as couples and family therapy. Services aim to alleviate symptoms related Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), depression and other mood disorders, anxiety and anxiety related disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)*, relationship and work stressors, and other adjustments.

* For treatment of PTSD, we offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. EMDR is an interactive psychotherapy technique used to relieve psychological stress and has been found effective for treatment for trauma. During EMDR therapy sessions, you relive traumatic or triggering experiences in brief doses while the therapist directs your eye movements. EMDR is thought to be effective because recalling distressing events is often less emotionally upsetting when your attention is diverted. This allows you to be exposed to the memories or thoughts without having a strong psychological response. Over time, this technique is believed to lessen the impact that the memories or thoughts have on you.

Treatment of Overweight and Obese Children and Teens

The problem of childhood obesity in the United States has grown considerably in recent years. The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) has recommended that children with obesity be referred to comprehensive, intensive behavioral interventions to include, but not limited to, behavioral medication treatment, diet, and physical activity. Parents’ participation is vital for child weight loss due to their control of the home environment, ability to set rules to encourage healthy behaviors, and potential to model healthy habits.

Our staff has extensive training and experience working with children and teens with eating disorders. We utilize intuitive eating, all foods fit philosophy, along with utilizing mindful eating, improving body image, emotion regulation and trauma reprocessing in her work. Group Services

Therapy groups are usually organized around a particular issue and average no more than 8 participants in a group. In a group setting, participants are able to provide support and feedback to one another in a safe environment. It provides the opportunity to have confidential discussion of personal issues with feedback from a therapist and other group members. It’s also effective for clients who are working on their relationship skills and helps clients relate to others who share similar life experiences. We offer a range of therapy groups that focus on specific emotional and/or behavioral needs of children, adolescents, and adults.

  • Anger Management
This group is helpful for individuals struggling with managing negative emotions and who act out in angry outbursts. Focuses on decreasing aggressive behaviors, de-escalating emotional outbursts, and improving relationships.
  • Process/Support Group
In a safe environment, allows individuals to openly discuss troubling issues, such as grief and loss and adjustment to life changes. Receive support and constructive feedback from group members.
  • Food and Feelings
There is a strong connection between eating and feeling that, if damaged, can lead to one relying on food for emotional support, rather than seeking authentic happiness. This group will help to address the seven emotions that plague problem eaters - guilt, shame, helplessness, anxiety, disappointment, confusion, and loneliness and help members embrace and learn from their feelings. The group will discuss how to identify and label specific emotions, the function of those emotions, and why the emotions drive food and eating problems. The group will help members develop strategies for disconnecting feelings from food, discovering emotional triggers, and using one's feelings to get what one wants out of life.
